The giant mirror of Viganella built to combat the 83 days of darkness in the year

In amongst the steep mountains of the Italian Alps lies the village of Viganella, a remote commune with a dwindling population of 200. Every year from November 11th to February 2nd, the village is cast under a dark shadow as the sun disappears behind the mountain. The mayor of the village Pierfranco Midali decided to combat this by building a giant mirror on the opposite mountain which would reflect sunlight back into the village. The mirror measures 8 meters by 5 meters and cost 100,000 euros to build and install. The project was such a success that people have began moving back to the village, and the mayor is now regarded as a hero.

This has become a meme picture. I just really want to find out if this is photoshopped. If not what was going on here?
[I can’t seem to find the original context anywhere]
ETA:
Thanks for the information:CRSIn a nutshell, carrying out extradition of (illegal) immigrant families in France. I am not going to go in depth about this. I just hope that whatever governments that feel they need to resort to these kind of practices instruct their executing agencies to fucking know the difference between a defenseless kid and an adult that might be of flight risk.
4 men really needed around that little boy? Can these things, if deemed absolutely necessary (which I have my own ideas about) not be executed in a different way?
Anyway, just enraging, saddening matter.

In photographer Lee Eunyeol’s ‘Starry Night’ series the sky and the earth appear to have switched places, and planets and stars appear embedded within cracks in the earth. Lee’s stunning light installations are created by installing LED bulbs in natural settings to create epic illuminated landscapes. Using temporal photographic techniques the artist creates these mysterious sights, which reach off into the distance like magical forests in a fairy tale.
